The Murmansk Region Development Corporation has presented a new issue of the Investment Digest, which contains the most significant news in the field of investment development of the region. The main event that positively influenced the investment climate of the Arctic and attracted attention to the Murmansk Region at the federal level in March 2024, according to specialists of the Development Corporation, was the visit of Yuri Petrovich Trutnev. The Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation launched the commercial operation of the new underground horizon of the Kirovsky mine of JSC Apatit and held a number of meetings with the head of the region Andrey Chibis. During the working trip, Yuri Petrovich noted that the Murmansk Region is among the leaders in the implementation of investment projects in the Russian Arctic and instructed the Ministry of Regional Development of the Russian Federation to develop proposals for additional measures to support investors implementing projects in the Russian Arctic.
"Only residents of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation and the TOP "Capital of the Arctic" have already created five thousand jobs in the region, and this work continues," Governor Andrey Chibis thanked the Deputy Prime Minister for his attention to the Murmansk region.
In total, the number of residents of the Russian Arctic in the Murmansk Region reached 236 by the end of March 2024, the total pool of projects implemented with the help of the Arctic benefits package currently amounts to almost 184 billion rubles. The new residents plan to build hotel complexes and roadside service facilities in Murmansk and the Kola district.
"In 2024, the Murmansk Region continues to strengthen its position in the federal ratings. So, in March, the region entered the top ten regions of Russia in terms of socio-economic well-being, according to experts from the Civil Society Development Fund. The ratio of the average salary to the cost of living was 5.53, which is higher than the national average. Also in March, there was a positive trend in the growth of the incoming tourist flow to the Murmansk region. These and other data affect the attractiveness of the region for potential investors, so the relevant news is reflected in our monthly digest," commented Artem Kuksa, General Director of the Murmansk Region Development Corporation.
Also in March, it became known that the level of GRP in the region has increased 2.5 times since 2019. And the revenue of local businesses increased by 25 billion rubles over the year.
