Murmansk hosted the Murmansk Region Export Day Forum for the second time

Murmansk hosted the annual Murmansk Region Export Day forum, which brought together more than 100 representatives of the business community, federal and regional authorities, and experts.

Representatives of federal authorities addressed the participants. 

Elena Ovsyannikova, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, spoke about measures to support exports and imports in the current geopolitical conditions. Olga Konosh, Deputy Head of the Representative office of JSC "Russian Export Center" in St. Petersburg, presented new instruments of state support for exporters.

Alexander Repkin, Deputy Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation of the Russian Foreign Ministry, discussed with the forum participants the prospects for cooperation with various regions of the world.

During the forum, regional exporters presented their success stories, told about the difficulties they faced and ways to overcome them.


"Exporters continue to face new challenges this year – many are reorienting to new markets, searching for new partners, logistics routes, supply channels. The key task of the government of the Murmansk Region is to contribute as much as possible to the development of exports of goods from regional producers," Svetlana Panfilova, Minister of Arctic Development and Economy of the Murmansk Region, stressed in her welcoming speech.


The forum was also attended by experts from friendly states.

President of MIR company, member of the Board of the Friendship Society of Russia and Indonesia Lubarte Sartoyo gave practical advice to importers when doing business with China. 

The founder of the B2B Vostok Group, Amerigo Tatel, presented the experience of negotiating and, in general, the experience of cooperation, gave valuable advice to exporters and told about the specifics of entering the Philippines market.

Dmitry Vasenin, entrepreneur and coach of the REC Export School, told the forum participants about the peculiarities of doing business in this country via direct communication from Vietnam.

The Export Day was actively attended by students of Murmansk Arctic University, including students in the profile "foreign economic activity".


"Export-oriented enterprises have a certain need for qualified personnel. Last year, at the initiative of our ministry, the training of specialists in the profile of "foreign economic activity" began. Today I am glad to welcome 2nd year students of Murmansk Arctic University to the forum. I am sure that future specialists will discover a lot for themselves and emphasize it at today's forum," Svetlana Panfilova said.


Recall that among the regions of the North-Western District, according to the results of foreign trade activity in 2022, the Murmansk region ranks third in terms of exports.


"The Regional Export Support Center established in 2019 continues to actively support small and medium-sized enterprises in entering new foreign markets. This year, small and medium–sized enterprises have already signed 14 export contracts, the volume of supported exports amounted to 4.9 million US dollars," Ilya Ostapchuk, Deputy Minister of Arctic Development and Economy, drew attention in his report on regional export support measures.   


Polar companies are now participating in international exhibitions in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Qingdao, China together with the Export Support Center of the region. The Murmansk delegation sent a video greeting from Qingdao to the forum participants.The forum is held in order to facilitate the implementation of the tasks of the national project "International Cooperation and Export", including assistance to regional exporters in the development of trade relations, localization of foreign partners in Russia, as well as the creation and development of new contact platforms between enterprises in the region and familiarization with current measures to support exporters.
