Murmansk Region and St. Petersburg strengthen business, trade and economic ties

The strengthening of trade, economic, business and cultural ties between St. Petersburg and the Murmansk Region will continue. This was decided by the parties following the visit of the delegation of St. Petersburg to our region.

In Murmansk, at a press conference, the results of the business mission of St. Petersburg in the Kola Arctic were summed up. The event was attended by Chairman of the St. Petersburg Committee for Arctic Affairs German Shirokov, Acting Minister of Arctic Development and Economy of the Murmansk Region Dmitry Titarenko, as well as representatives of enterprises participating in the business mission of St. Petersburg.

The Chairman of the St. Petersburg Committee for Arctic Affairs thanked colleagues from the government of the Murmansk region for the hospitable reception, and also noted that the strengthening of trade, economic, business and cultural ties will continue.

"Business missions to the regions of the Arctic zone of Russia, which are organized by the St. Petersburg Committee for Arctic Affairs for representatives of the business community of the Northern capital, have already shown their relevance and effectiveness. The new business mission to the Murmansk region was no exception. The interaction between enterprises and organizations of our regions is effective, with very good prospects for long–term cooperation," he said.


During the visit, FSUE Atomflot, JSC Arctic Marine Exploration Expedition, JSC Murmansk Commercial Sea Port, as well as other manufacturing enterprises of Murmansk were visited. The participants of the business mission exchanged experiences during the last round table.


"The Murmansk region is a region with a rich history and a wide range of development directions: from ship repair and mining to tourism. We have something to show and something to surprise. Following the results of the business mission, colleagues from St. Petersburg confirmed this. Based on the results of their visit, proposals on the industries of interest will be presented. For our part, we will provide comprehensive support in cooperation with enterprises and organizations in our region. Having a significant investment potential and a rich resource base, the government of the Murmansk Region is aimed at developing our region as the flagship of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, which will certainly contribute to the development of our relations with the St. Petersburg Committee for Arctic Affairs and enterprises of the city of St. Petersburg," Dmitry Titarenko emphasized.


During the visit, preliminary agreements were reached on the supply of high-tech equipment to Murmansk for various fields of activity, as well as to ensure the development and modernization of infrastructure projects.


As part of the development of the agreements reached, one of the members of the delegation of St. Petersburg, the director of Polyservice, Nikolay Samoilov, donated to the Murmansk Arctic University a refractometer SNEL-105, manufactured by this company and designed to measure the concentration of liquids, for example, measuring the salinity of water, the concentration of de–icing liquids and determining the quality of various types of fuel, to equip the laboratory. used in the Arctic.
