Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Maxim Oreshkin: Murmansk is a 100% supporting Arctic city

During the visit of Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Maxim Oreshkin to the Murmansk region, a number of companies and production sites were visited, including the Murmansk Sea Fishing Port. It specializes in cargo transshipment of fishing vessels and refrigerated transport vehicles.

The head of the region Andrey Chibis demonstrated production sites and told about plans for the development and modernization of the port, including ship repair facilities.

"I came to see the real picture, all the accents for the economy, how the city is developing, production, from the point of view of human capital. Fish production is a very promising direction of development. Yes, while the fishing port is not in the state in which we would like, I hope that appropriate decisions will be made, and there will be positive dynamics here. The Arctic is an absolute priority. The President has already launched a large program for the development of the Far East, and it will soon be possible to say that the Arctic cities also have an impulse. Murmansk is a 100% supporting Arctic city. It is of great strategic importance for the whole country, whatever aspect you take," Maxim Oreshkin stressed during his visit to the enterprises.

Andrey Chibis thanked Maxim Oreshkin for his visit and attentive attitude to the region and the Northerners.

"At the working group of the State Council, and with Maxim Oreshkin, we discussed the main cities of the Arctic. Our common position is that those cities that make a significant contribution to the development of the global economy of the Arctic are strategically important for the whole country: logistics, mineral resource base. We all need to invest in such cities together – more resources, a reasonable approach to investment, so that as many people as possible live there, who are in demand for projects implemented in the Arctic zone. An additional impetus, investment in the development of Arctic cities is fundamentally important for us. Today we started with the fishing port, the port infrastructure. Tomorrow we will see the most powerful infrastructure projects that are being implemented with the support of the President of our country Vladimir Putin. A separate topic, very important, is the locations of our servicemen. We have planned, among other things, meetings with young people and entrepreneurs in order to really provide maximum information for making the necessary decisions," Andrei Chibis said.

Also, as part of the business program, a visit to the Murmansk commercial sea Port took place. The largest stevedoring company in the Arctic zone is located in the ice-free waters of the Kola Bay and has an open outlet to the ocean, providing year-round communication with the most important logistics centers around the world: ports of Western Europe, the Middle East, the African continent, the Northern Sea Route, the Svalbard archipelago. The average loading intensity of bulk cargo is up to 35 thousand tons per day. MMTP capacities allow transshipment of bulk and any general cargo, including bulky, long, heavy (up to 80 tons). The port is an important part of the infrastructure of the Murmansk transport hub, the creation of which is actively underway on behalf of President Vladimir Putin.

In addition, Maxim Oreshkin and Andrey Chibis visited the fish processing factory and the store of the company "Murmansk Seafood" in Kola. The project was implemented thanks to the state program to support the modernization of the fish processing industry. The plant is equipped with equipment for the production of fillets and minced meat from cod and haddock, other products from cod or haddock with a total capacity of over 60 tons of products per day, as well as products from production waste. A special feature of the Valka EHF production line is a fully automated bone and portion cutting line, which uses a combination of X-ray technology to determine the location of fish bones and water-jet robots for precise bone cutting and portioning of fish fillets. According to reviews, this plant is among the top 5 largest fish processing factories in Europe. Since April 2022, a company store has been operating near the territory of the factory, where fish products are sold.

"We walked through the production and visited the fish shop. I note that fish prices are lower than in Moscow. High quality, modern technological processes, cleanliness, everything is debugged. This ensures that fresh fish gets on the shelves in Murmansk and throughout Russia," Maxim Oreshkin said.

"For us, the anchor for the price is cod. Here it is sold for 279 rubles a kilogram. And those who want to buy even more profitable – on Saturdays this cod is sold at the fair "Our fish". It is important that our entrepreneurs do not just extract fish, but process and export it on our shore. And this is evidence of investment in the native land. Together with the municipality, we gave land for this worthy project, the expansion of production on our territory. And people can buy a decent quality product here. We also talked with employees, there is no turnover here, people get a decent salary, these are good, modern jobs," the governor stressed.
