The Arctic Hectare program will help in the development of tourist infrastructure in the Arctic

One of the topics of discussion at the operational meeting in the regional government was the preparation for the summer tourist season. As the Governor Andrey Chibis noted, last year, despite the coronavirus pandemic, the Murmansk region was visited by more than 350 thousand tourists, and the Russians actually replaced the share of foreign visitors. This year, taking into account the extension of the tourist cashback program within the country, the Kola Polar Region also expects a considerable influx of travelers.

In this regard, according to the head of the region, it is necessary to pay special attention to the development of tourist infrastructure, including through the extension of the "Far Eastern Hectare" program to the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation.

"In the near future, all issues related to the provision of a free hectare on the territory of the Arctic zone in the Murmansk region will be legislated. We are ready for this program, it will be necessary to finally make the necessary decisions and inform investors where we will be able to provide a hectare, including in order to develop the tourist infrastructure. And, of course, I ask everyone to monitor the quality of the service that is provided to tourists, so that tourists leave us happy and come more than once. Now the demand for the closest Arctic in the two capitals is very high, and it is growing. It is important that the quality of service with an increase in the tourist flow also does not fall, but continues to grow," said Andrey Chibis.
