Since December 1, 2022, PJSC EL5-Energo has received permission to put into commercial operation the first stage of the largest wind farm beyond the Arctic Circle – the Kola wind Farm. The capacity of the first stage is 170 MW (84% of the design capacity).
After full launch, the 201 MW generation facility will be able to generate about 750 kWh per year, which will reduce emissions to 600,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year. The wind farm is equipped with 57 turbines, its area is 257 hectares. Mainly localized Russian equipment is installed at the wind farm.
