A meeting of the regional government was held, the key topic of which was the approval of the strategic development plan of the Murmansk region "To live in the North" until 2030.
Opening the meeting, Governor Andrey Chibis recalled the results of the implementation of the regional plan "To the North – to live" from 2019 to 2024.
"The main result of the implementation of the plan for the past five years is a radical reduction in the rate of population decline – we have almost seven times slowed down the rate of decline. To a large extent, this is due to the growth of the economy. In fact, 1 trillion 200 billion rubles have been invested in the implementation of investment projects in the region, and more than 8.5 thousand permanent jobs have been created. Our partners, the largest employers, not only invest, but also invest in the social sphere – the volume of such investments under our agreements has increased fivefold since 2019," the head of the region stressed, thanking the key companies in the region for their work.
Andrey Chibis also noted that housing construction is among the key areas. This year alone, four houses have been commissioned – three in Murmansk and one in Umba. In the coming years, new developers in the region have confirmed the construction of another 800,000 m2. The program "Your home in the Arctic" is also in demand. During the period of its validity, 1,419 certificates were issued in the amount of 1.8 billion rubles. More than 900 houses have already been built or bought.
"Despite difficult external circumstances, including sanctions and economic pressure, important decisions were made aimed at the long-term development of the Murmansk Region. Among them is the strategic plan "To live in the North" until 2030. It is based on 72,000 suggestions from residents and experts themselves, including all key areas for improving people's quality of life. It is based on the national goals outlined by the President of Russia. It is synchronized with national projects, events of master plans of the flagship agglomerations of the Murmansk region, renovation of BUTTES and military garrisons, socio-economic agreements with our key partners, strategic development projects and regional projects," emphasized Andrey Chibis.
The updated plan "To live in the North" focuses on economic development, the development of the healthcare system, education, youth work and attracting the necessary personnel for the region, the introduction of a comprehensive program aimed at increasing the birth rate and measures to support large families – "In the North – baby", support for the participants of their own and their families, housing construction and landscaping, digitalization, sports and culture, tourism and leisure.
"Some of the projects are our strategic goals, and it will be very difficult to achieve them. But we consciously publicly put them to work, so that the business would have a reference point, so that the residents would know that we are working on these projects. I am confident that thanks to the support of the federal government and the unity of the Northerners, the plan has every chance of being successfully implemented," Andrei Chibis summed up.
