Since the beginning of the national project "Tourism and the Hospitality Industry", 46 tourism infrastructure development projects have been completed in the Murmansk Region, and the volume of government support has increased 30-fold.
As part of the national project, 34 entrepreneurs working in the field of tourism were provided with grant support for the purchase of tourist equipment and equipment, as well as for the reconstruction of year-round pools. Thus, more than 2,500 pieces of equipment were purchased.
In addition, 7 representatives of the tourism industry received financial support in the form of a grant for the implementation of projects for the construction of modular accommodation facilities.
As part of the projects, house kits for sports equipment were purchased to adapt to the needs of people with disabilities, laser animation equipment for navigating the tourist route was manufactured and installed, and a gazebo for observing the northern Lights on Lisya Mountain in Murmansk was reconstructed and equipped.
"Thanks to the systematic work in the tourism industry, a large number of new facilities have been created throughout the region. It is worth noting that Murmansk Airport ranked 26th in terms of passenger traffic in the Russian Federation – this is an objective indicator reflecting interest in the region, where conditions are created for both the tourism business and tourists," said Oksana Demchenko, First Deputy Governor of the Murmansk Region.
Due to the implementation of measures and modernization of infrastructure within the framework of the national project "Tourism and the Hospitality Industry" and the strategic plan "To live in the North", the Murmansk region has become the first region in the Arctic to have two classified beaches, and the tourist flow to the region is steadily growing. If in 2023 the tourist flow became a record for the entire history of the region, then in 2024 the Murmansk region was visited by even more tourists – according to preliminary estimates, more than 700 thousand people.
