The Murmansk Region continues to prepare for the VI International Arctic Forum "The Arctic – the territory of dialogue". At an operational meeting in the regional government, Governor Andrey Chibis announced the main topics of the forum. They will be the development of the Northern Sea Route, the mainstay settlements of the Arctic, attracting investments, and ecology.
"The Forum is being held in Murmansk for the first time. It is a great honor and a great responsibility for us. A joint meeting of the Commissions of the State Council of the Russian Federation is also planned within the framework of the forum, where we will once again consider in detail the initiatives that will be presented to President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. We discussed this approach just last week at a meeting of the State Council's commission on the Northern Sea Route and the Arctic, which took place on February 28. It was attended by Assistant to the President of Russia, Secretary of the State Council Alexey Dyumin, Adviser to the President of Russia Igor Levitin and Minister of Development of the Far East and the Arctic Alexey Chekunkov," said the head of the region.
Andrey Chibis noted the importance of the upcoming event for the whole country in the context of the escalating struggle for influence in the Arctic: taking into account the reserves of hydrocarbons, rare earth metals and the prospects of the Northern Sea Route, this is a fundamentally important territory for our state.
It should be recalled that the VI International Arctic Forum "The Arctic – Territories of Dialogue" will be held in Murmansk on March 26-27 under the slogan "Live in the North!" and will become the largest platform for discussing issues on the Arctic agenda. The program of events has already been published. The forum is organized by the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation.
