The Murmansk Region remains the leader in the number of residents of the Arctic zone of Russia, and the number of self-employed in the region has increased by 33% over the past year. This was announced by Governor Andrey Chibis at a traditional operational meeting today.
"There are currently 298 residents of the Arctic zone in the region, including 8 in the Capital of the Arctic TOP. I'm paying attention, that these mechanisms provide tax benefits, reduced insurance premiums, and administrative preferences. More than 264 billion rubles have been attracted to the region from residents of the Russian Arctic alone. In total, the volume of investments, starting in 2019, amounted to 1.5 trillion rubles. For us, of course, the most important indicator is economic growth and development, as this creates opportunities for the implementation of socially significant projects and the improvement of our cities and towns," said the head of the region.
Andrey Chibis stressed that as of January 2025, more than 26,000 small and medium-sized businesses and 37.8 thousand self-employed were registered in the Murmansk Region.
In 2024, entrepreneurs actively used government support measures. In particular, the Governor's Start program allows you to receive grants of up to 2 million rubles. Since 2020, 164 projects worth 184 million rubles have been supported under this initiative.
"We have a whole range of educational programs, but we need to strengthen our work here. Colleagues, it is important that the principle of "benefits in exchange for investments" works. I ask you to conduct extensive explanatory work with entrepreneurs, tenants of land plots, if necessary, to distribute information on what they are entitled to," Andrei Chibis summed up.
Speaking about the results of the work of the Commissioner for the Protection of the Rights of Entrepreneurs of the Murmansk Region over the past year, the governor noted that 406 appeals had been received by the Business Ombudsman during this period. The main issues related to rent and property support, tax regulation, and dispute resolution. Based on the results of the analytical work, changes were made to regional legislation, rules for the provision of financial resources, and new types and areas of support were formed.
