Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev supported a number of proposals for the development of the Murmansk region put forward by Governor Andrey Chibis

During the operational meeting, Governor Andrey Chibis summed up the results of the visit to the Murmansk Region by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation – Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev, which took place last week. The head of the region stressed that the Deputy Prime Minister supported a number of proposals for the development of the Arctic regions.

During the bilateral meeting, Governor Andrei Chibis reported to Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev on the results of the work of the State Council's working group on Arctic development and the proposals developed, which received the support of President Vladimir Putin.

"We went through the topics that are still in the works. Yuri Petrovich supported the work of the group, which consolidates the position of both business and all subjects of the Federation in the Arctic zone of Russia. In particular, we discussed the topic of emerging new national projects and the need to prioritize the Arctic regions in these events," the head of the region noted.

According to the governor, the meeting also discussed the creation of a new world-class campus for Murmansk Arctic University, the expansion of the carrying capacity of the Murmansk transport hub and the need to expand the rental housing program in the Arctic zone of Russia by analogy with the Far East.

"We talked about a number of other topics on which we received the support of the Deputy Prime Minister. The task now is to ensure that all the instructions of Yuri Petrovich are fulfilled in order to give an additional opportunity to implement what is very relevant and important for us," the governor stressed.

Another important issue is the topic of arsenic regulation.

"It was recently raised at a working group, having received the support of Rosrybolovstvo, the Ministry of Agriculture and other departments. We have agreed on the deadlines that are in effect so that a larger volume of fish products can be delivered to the Russian market. This would support our fishermen, residents, and consumers. Yuri Petrovich also supports us in this issue, let's work out these topics clearly," the governor said in conclusion.

Under the leadership of the Deputy Prime Minister, a detailed meeting was held with investors of the Murmansk region, during which they discussed the implementation of key investment projects, as well as a number of new ones.

"As the Deputy Prime Minister stressed, these projects significantly affect the economy of the region, and many of them affect the economy of the entire Russian Federation. Yuri Petrovich Trutnev called our region one of the leaders in attracting investments in the Arctic. The volume of investments over the past five years in the Murmansk region has already amounted to about 1.2 trillion rubles. This is a large amount of actually invested funds in the development of our economy," Andrei Chibis said.

During the working trip, the Deputy Prime Minister, together with the head of the region and the Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, Alexey Chekunkov, opened a new underground horizon + 10 meters at the Kirovsky mine.

"PhosAgro's new horizon will contribute to increasing the volume of ore production by the Kirovsky mine to 25 million tons of ore by 2025. The task that our colleagues have set for themselves, I am sure, will be solved. These volumes will be increased to 2 million tons from the current figure and by 2028 the productivity of the new horizon will reach 9.4 million tons per year. After reaching the design capacity, the horizon's share in the volume of ore produced by the Kirovsky mine will amount to 36%. As a result, the total volume of apatite-nepheline ore reserves involved in mining will amount to about 300 million tons," the governor said.

Andrey Chibis stressed that the company invested 36 billion rubles in the implementation of the large-scale project, about 2 thousand specialists were employed in the installation and preparation of the facility for operation.

"This year, the Kirov branch of Apatit JSC celebrates its 95th anniversary. And the launch of a new horizon only confirms that the company has many more years of successful work ahead. This is not the last investment project that is being implemented in this territory and development will continue," the head of the region stressed.
