Development of one of the most promising titanium deposits in Russia has begun in Afrikanda

Today, in the village of Afrikanda in the Murmansk region, exploration work has started on the Central section of the Afrikandovsky field.

This event was the beginning of a large-scale work on the revival of the chemical and metallurgical complex of the region for the production of rare, rare earth metals and titanium dioxide. The development of the field will provide Russia with strategic raw materials for industry, IT-sphere and achieve full import independence.

The afrikandskoye field was first discovered by Soviet geologists in 1935, infrastructure was created, but exploration was suspended for a long time. In 2019, work on the restoration of the field and changes in the Federal regulatory framework was intensified at the initiative of Governor Andrey Chibis. In June this year, the subsoil Afrikanovich field in the auction, was won by JSC "ARMINERA Resource".

The investor plans to create 450 high-tech permanent jobs, the volume of investments will be about 17.9 billion rubles. The output to the design capacity is announced for 2024.

The Murmansk region development Corporation provides the investor with comprehensive assistance in the implementation of the project, including consulting support in the selection and receipt of state support measures.
