Gazprom is designing a gas pipeline to Murmansk in conjunction with the gasification of Karelia

The construction of the main gas pipeline to Murmansk is being considered in conjunction with the development of gas supply to the Republic of Karelia, through which this infrastructure facility will pass.

Gazprom has started designing the main gas pipeline for the gasification of the Murmansk region. The corporate edition of Gazprom Projecting LLC informs that the company has created a project office "North - Center", whose tasks include the implementation of the projects of the Volkhov - Segezha - Kostomuksha gas pipelines and the Volkhov-Murmansk highway.

Sergey Alexandrov, Head of the Project Management Department for Gas Transportation facilities, said: "At present, the Company's management has assigned me to lead the work of the internal project office "Sever - Center", whose tasks include the implementation of the projects "Volkhov - Segezha - Kostomuksha Gas Pipeline", "Volkhov -Murmansk Main Gas Pipeline". I am sure that the created team will make every effort to implement the tasks set within the established time frame."

Regarding the plans of the project office , Alexandrov noted: "I see the priority task solved by the department under my leadership as ensuring the removal of obstacles that arise during the execution of design and survey work. This task is solved most effectively by ensuring continuous interaction of all participants in the implementation of the investment project. This is largely facilitated by the formation of project management principles, the creation of project offices (project teams) both within Gazprom Projecting LLC and at the level of Gazprom Invest LLC, Gazprom PJSC and its subsidiaries."

Designers begin to carry out engineering surveys, design and survey work, registration of rights and permits for land and land (forest) plots.

According to the regional authorities, the cost of construction of MG "Volkhov - Murmansk" will amount to 350 billion rubles.

Currently, two liquefied natural gas boilers have been launched in the Murmansk region. They were built as part of a partnership project between the Russian Defense Ministry and NOVATEK and put into operation in December 2021.
