A training seminar "Regional brands – new growth points" was held in Murmansk. Today, for commodity producers whose properties are inherently linked to the geographical features of the place of production, a training seminar on state registration and promotion of appellations of origin and geographical indications was held, organized in order to increase the welfare and development of regional brands. 
  
Within the framework of cooperation with the Murmansk Region, representatives of the Russian representative office of the World Intellectual Property Organization, Rospatent and the Federal Institute of Industrial Property, regional infrastructure for business support addressed the participants of the seminar. 
  
The seminar was opened by Natalia Poluyanova, Deputy Minister of Arctic Development and Economy of the Murmansk Region. 
  
"The Government of the Murmansk Region strives to create favorable conditions for the development of your ideas and projects by providing the necessary resources and support, while geographical indication increasingly acts as an effective marketing tool and helps create favorable economic conditions for the development of entrepreneurship in the region," Natalia Poluyanova said. 
  
The event was attended by representatives of the executive bodies of the Murmansk region, folk arts and crafts, regional food producers, catering organizations and other areas, where they discussed the features of such intellectual property objects as geographical indication and designation of places of origin of goods, the speakers also talked about their practical benefits for large and small businesses, and dispelled many There are myths that it is difficult, long and expensive to get registered. 
  
Participation in the training seminar will give local producers the opportunity to distinguish their products from competitors, successfully promote goods on the market, increase volumes, scale production, and the presence of a brand registered by Rosstandart will allow them to create uniform quality standards, promote and market goods produced in the Arctic regions and stop the production of counterfeit products.
