Murmansk region and India expand cooperation in the field of tourism

The Murmansk Region is stepping up international cooperation with India in the field of tourism. These days, a series of business negotiations between representatives of the Arctic and Indian partners are taking place at several venues in the two countries.

In the Indian capital, Marta Govor, Minister of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of the Murmansk Region, took part in a business business mission organized by the Moscow City Tourism Committee. As part of the Moscow+ interregional travel concept and the joint project Journey to the Russian Miracle, the head of the department conducted a series of B2B negotiations and presented the tourist potential of the Kola Arctic to Indian tour operators specializing in outbound tourism. An important event was a meeting at the Ministry of Tourism of India with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation and Mostourism. The parties discussed the prospects of Russian-Indian partnership in the field of tourism, including the possibility of organizing a thematic "Russian Day" in Delhi and the participation of representatives of the Murmansk region in it.

"Our region is well known in India, thanks in large part to study tours and bloggers. From the point of view of winter tourism, the Murmansk region is at the top of preferences, many tourists from India want to explore the Arctic here," said Minister Marta Govor.

In parallel, a reverse business mission from the Republic of India is taking place in the Murmansk Region from March 23 to March 27. The trip is organized by the regional Export Support Center. The delegation includes representatives of three Indian travel companies. Yesterday, the main B2B event of the visit took place: negotiations between potential partners from India and local tour operators. Anastasia Tyutina, Head of the Murmansk Region Export Support Center, and Denis Maltsev, representative of the regional Ministry of Tourism and Entrepreneurship, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.

"Thanks to this business mission, we have the opportunity to present the tourism potential of the region, the beauty of our nature and organize direct business negotiations with companies interested in cooperation," Anastasia Tyutina emphasized.

Denis Maltsev expressed confidence that everyone who has ever visited the North will definitely want to return here, and presented the participants of the Indian delegation with a unique regional souvenir "Polar Explorer's Passport" for future new trips around the Murmansk region.

As representatives of Indian travel companies noted, the modern tourist from India is increasingly seeking to move away from traditional destinations and is looking for a new vacation experience. The Murmansk Region, with its unique natural phenomena and a variety of activities and attractions, perfectly meets these requirements. Indian tour operators have expressed their willingness to enter into agreements with local businesses, actively promote the destination in their market and provide support in the formation of travel packages.
In the coming days, the participants of the business mission will also study the regional practice of providing tourist services and key locations.
