The regional government discussed the development of MTU and logistics in the Arctic

Andrey Chibis, Governor of the Murmansk Region, held a working meeting with Innokenty Alafinov, CEO of PJSC TransFin-M. The focus is on the development of the region's transport infrastructure and the implementation of key logistics projects in the Arctic.

The Governor stressed the importance of the Murmansk Region for the development of the Russian transport system and international routes.

"Our region is of strategic importance not only for Russia, but also for global logistics. On behalf of Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, the Murmansk transport hub, one of the key elements of the Northern Sea Route and the Transarctic Transport Corridor, is being comprehensively developed. This will make it possible to form a powerful multimodal transport hub in the Murmansk Region," said Andrey Chibis.

The governor also noted the high transport potential of the region. Murmansk remains the largest ice-free port in the Arctic Circle and the leader among the ports of the Arctic basin in terms of cargo turnover. The world's only nuclear-powered icebreaking fleet is based in the region, providing year-round navigation in the western sector of the Arctic.

Special attention was paid to the development of the Murmansk transport hub. Thanks to the support of the President of Russia, a working movement has been launched along a new railway line, the connection of the eastern and western shores of the Kola Bay has been ensured, and the development of railway infrastructure and station facilities continues.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for further cooperation, the company's participation in infrastructure projects and the development of the region's transport and logistics potential.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue joint work aimed at developing the Murmansk transport hub and strengthening the region's position as a key logistics center in the Arctic.
