Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this at a plenary session during the Eastern Economic Forum. The Head of State noted that it is necessary to develop universities in the Arctic, including in Murmansk.

"I propose to launch work on several more projects, namely, to build new university campuses. All conditions for study, work, and student accommodation will be created in such centers. Platforms for youth entrepreneurship and business clubs will be opened. We will also develop universities in the Arctic. In addition to the already launched campus project in Arkhangelsk, the same project will be added in Murmansk. Advanced engineering schools will also operate on the basis of the campuses. Their task is not only to train specialists for industry and agriculture, transport and services, for the use of artificial intelligence, but also to offer original solutions for serial implementation in management systems, the social sphere, and economic sectors," Vladimir Putin said.

The Governor of the Murmansk Region, Andrey Chibis, stressed that the appearance of a world-class campus in the capital of the Kola Arctic region will increase the level of competitiveness and profitability of educational programs and the educational infrastructure of the region. And due to this, it will provide a high level of training in accordance with the request of the economy.

"Modern infrastructure for students' education and life will be created on the territory of Murmansk Arctic University. This includes a scientific and educational center for biotechnology and processing of bioresources, a sports and recreation complex, dormitories and an additional classroom fund. The University will expand its student admission opportunities to 11,600 people. This is an increase of almost two times. I thank the President of Russia and the Federal Government for supporting our application. This is a huge step for the development of higher education in the Murmansk region," Andrei Chibis stressed.
