Proposals of the Arctic development working group will be sent to the Government of the Russian Federation

On Friday, the first meeting of the working group on ensuring transport, logistics and socio-economic development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation took place in the region. The event was held at the site of the Center for the Construction of Large-tonnage Offshore Structures of NOVATEK. This was announced today at an operational meeting by the head of the region Andrey Chibis.

"It turned out to be a frank and honest discussion about the problems faced by the northern regions. Joining efforts will give us the opportunity to move forward and seek increased funding, for example, for the renovation of the port, the introduction of preferential mortgages for residents of the Arctic regions and measures aimed at the development of civil ship repair. This is an urgent topic for the Murmansk Region," the governor said.

Andrey Chibis stressed that today the region has competencies, but there is not enough capacity to serve the demand for ship repairs that arose after the introduction of sanctions. This issue has become one of the main issues on the agenda of the working group.

"Also a few months ago, we discussed support measures for ship repair enterprises in the federal government, including the abolition of VAT for ship repair enterprises, so that they have their own sources of financing. Today this decision has been made, for which I thank the Russian Government. I am sure it will have a positive impact on the development of the sphere," the head of the region said.

The meeting of the Arctic development working group was attended by representatives of federal agencies, heads of regions, representatives of the Federation Council and the State Duma, heads of companies and organizations of the country working for the sustainable development of the territories of the AZ of the Russian Federation.

"Thanks to colleagues for productive work on the site of the working group. The developed proposals will be sent to the federal government for further study and implementation," the governor concluded.
