Upgraded crabber will start fishing in the Barents Sea

Modern crabber has joined the northern fishing fleet: today, the governor of the Murmansk region Andrey Chibis was presented with a modernized vessel "Murman-2", which will go fishing in the Barents Sea this month. The presentation was held by the General director of the company "Antey Sever" Yuri Bakalyar.

The company "Antey Sever" is a resident of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. A special preferential regime allows you to invest in the development of the Murmansk region and create new jobs.

"We are glad to have such a partner. Antey has been a resident since 2020, and we see that preferences are bearing fruit. The next vessel has been transformed from a support vessel into a modern crab extraction vessel, there is excellent equipment here. The company has created 600 new jobs during its work in the Murmansk region and has already paid 1.8 billion rubles in taxes to the regional budget. We have large-scale joint plans to modernize and create a modern production of onshore processing on the territory of the fishing port. This includes jobs for the guys we teach at the I.I. College. Mesyatseva, at MSTU, competitive salary, as well as fresh products," Andrei Chibis stressed.

The head of the region also noted that students of colleges and universities of the region will practice on the new vessels.

"We have agreed with colleagues that they will actively patronize our I.I. Mesyatsev MMRC, take the guys to practice and motivate them to go further into the profession. The college needs technical re-equipment. Today we saw how this vessel is operated, what wonderful equipment is here. It is necessary that in colleges children are taught to work on such equipment, on modern ships. Classics are very important, but modern technology also needs to be mastered. And together we will gradually do everything so that the college meets the needs of companies operating in the northern basin, trains the right specialists," commented Andrey Chibis.

Fleet renewal and capacity building is one of the priorities of the Antey Group of companies, which includes Antey North. Today, the fleet of the group of companies includes 51 vessels of various types, 21 of them are operating in the North. The annual production of crab in the Barents Sea in 2022 exceeded 11 thousand tons of crab. The company is implementing a project on modernization and re-equipment of vessels for crab extraction and production of boiled and frozen products. "Murman-2" is the second vessel of the company, the first modernized crabber has been operating in the Barents Sea since 2021.

The total length of the crab reaches 57.7 meters, the width is 14 meters, the full speed is 12.5 knots, the total volume of two refrigerated holds is 670 m3. In addition, the "Murman-2" has excellent seaworthiness: installed propeller columns and thrusters increase the maneuverability and controllability of the vessel in all weather conditions. The main advantage of the vessel is a modern factory for the production of boiled and frozen products with a capacity of up to 30 tons per day.

"Modern automatic crab cutting equipment reduces the time spent on processing raw materials and minimizes the labor of sailors, this allows you to significantly increase the output of daily products. The factory of the vessel "Murman-2" is equipped with specialized tunnel-type air freezing chambers. These technologies allow us to preserve nutrients: protein, vitamins and essential fatty acids," said Yuri Bakalyar, General Director of Antey Sever.

Comfortable conditions for work and rest of the crew are provided on the krabolov: two- and three-person cabins, modern equipment, spacious workplaces. There are also additional cabins for cadets of maritime universities and colleges who will practice on the ship.

Recall that the Antey Group of companies is one of the largest Russian holdings in the extraction and processing of fish and crab with a 30-year history of fishing. Starting work in the Far East, Antey expanded its regions of presence, becoming the only company in Russia engaged in the extraction and processing of crabs in the Far Eastern and Northern fisheries basins of the country.

"GC "Antey" is one of the leaders of the crabbing industry in Russia. As of 2023, the company has successfully mastered about 18% of Russian quotas for crab production. The production capacity is about 1200 tons per month. As part of the first stage of investment quotas, Antey supported Far Eastern shipbuilders and placed orders at the Nakhodka Shipyard, actually investing more than 13.5 billion rubles in the economy of the Far East. In addition, taking into account the US ban on the import of Russian crab, Antey is the first organization that managed to reorient the export of crab harvested in the Northern Fisheries Basin to the Asia–Pacific countries. The crab in its live form was delivered to the recipients by the Northern Sea Route. The modernization of the Murman-2 ship outside the investment quota program only underlines the confidence in the Antey company, which has committed itself to renewing the fleet," said Dmitry Klyuneev, Director of the Department of Fisheries Development of the KRDV.

As part of the investment quota program, 8 more modern crabbers are being built in Primorsky Krai by order of the Antey Group of Companies, which will work, including in the Barents Sea. The first three vessels "Captain", "Captain Khazan" and "Dmitry Konoplev" were launched in the fall of 2022.
