A new modern terminal will be built at the Murmansk airport

Today, as part of the solemn meeting of the Pobeda Airlines flight with the new livery of the Murmansk – the Capital of the Arctic aircraft, an agreement on intentions for the construction of a new terminal at Murmansk International Airport was signed between the regional government and Novaport Holding LLC. The documents were signed by the governor Andrey Chibis and the general director of the company Sergey Rudakov.

"The construction of a new, beautiful, comfortable and convenient terminal with sleeves is a long – awaited event for us. Today we have agreed with Novaport Holding that it will be built in 2023. And this is not just an agreement of intent, but already there is a roadmap for the project and a clear plan. Our colleagues have already prepared the project documentation. We have no doubt that the work will be completed on time. We are doing everything necessary to facilitate the passage of a special environmental assessment by the project. We will help and do everything to increase passenger traffic and open new flights, " Andrey Chibis commented on the event.

Within the framework of the agreement, the parties recognize the mutual interest of possible participation in the implementation of the investment project "Design and construction of the terminal complex of internal air lines of Murmansk Airport" on the territory of the Murmansk region with preliminary technical and economic parameters.

"The terminal will be built using the most modern technologies. It will have two sleeves, a single registration and inspection, rest areas before departure. This is very important, first of all, for the comfort of people, "said Sergey Rudakov, the head of Novaport Holding. – It is also worth noting that the airfield is even more important than the train station itself. You can build a terminal, attach sleeves to it, and if there is no platform nearby, then you will have to carry passengers by bus. And if the lane is bad, the corresponding aircraft will not arrive. Therefore, the reconstruction of the airfield is also in the first stage, which is in the same examination as the terminal."

The construction of a new airport terminal complex of domestic air lines (VVL) is due to the need to increase capacity, optimize passenger service areas and technological flows of baggage, as well as the requirements of air carriers.

At the first stage, it is proposed to carry out the design and construction of the VVL terminal, taking into account the possibilities of its future development. It is planned that this will be a free-standing building on the western side of the existing airport terminal, which should be linked to the expansion of the apron as part of the reconstruction of the Murmansk airport complex. The total investment volume is more than 2.3 billion rubles.

Taking into account the regulatory requirements, it will be necessary to design a terminal with a capacity of 400 passengers per hour and more than 1 million passengers per year. Also, within the framework of the project, due to additional optimization and the availability of auxiliary functional rooms in the old VVL terminal, it is planned to achieve the technical ability to increase the peaks of indicators to 600 passengers per hour.

At a meeting with the management of Novaport Holding LLC, Andrey Chibis additionally discussed the issues of developing the route network of Murmansk Airport and subsidizing new destinations. According to the results of the first half of 2021, the passenger traffic of the main air harbor of the Arctic region amounted to more than 617 thousand people. Compared to 2019, the increase was 27.8%. The number of flights also increased by 20.3% – 2982.
