
At the end of the VI International Arctic Forum, a press conference was held, attended by Yuri Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative in the Far Eastern Federal District, and Alexey Chekunkov, Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic.
"About 1300 people and 21 countries took part in the Arctic forum, which means that the forum turned out to be really international and quite large. At the plenary session, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin adopted a number of fundamental decisions for the development of the Arctic," said Yuri Trutnev, opening the press conference.
Alexey Chekunkov noted that at the VI International Arctic Forum there was a very high concentration of important decisions, the practical interest of the participants and significant speakers.
"The Arctic really attracts investors, who bring the Russian Direct Investment Fund and entrepreneurs such as Tatiana Kim, banks that were represented at the forum at the level of leading executives – VTB, VEB, BEBER. Almost all the heads of the Arctic regions were also, one might say, living investment projects. The culmination of this, of course, was the plenary speech of the President of Russia, which was very full of clear specific instructions on practical tasks, ranging from Arctic medicine and the resettlement of emergency housing to rental housing and the Snezhinka scientific station. We have been given strategic guidelines that need to be achieved," Alexey Chukunkov said.
The Federal Minister thanked Andrey Chibis, Governor of the Murmansk Region, for the excellent organization of the International Arctic Forum, which will be interesting and eventful.
As part of IAF-2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting on the development of the Arctic zone and the Arctic Transport Corridor, which was attended by Governor Andrey Chibis, Chairman of the State Council of the Russian Federation Commission on the Northern Sea Route and the Arctic. A joint meeting of the commissions of the State Council of the Russian Federation was also held, where participants supported the initiative to create a comprehensive project for the development of the Arctic and the Northern Sea Route, and at the meeting of the strategic session, Governor Andrey Chibis proposed key models for the development of the Northern Sea Route in the long term.
During the press conference, Russian and foreign journalists asked the speakers questions about the development of tourism and ship repair, attracting investments, working within the framework of master plans for key settlements in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, developing a standard for Arctic medicine, and developing agriculture in the Far North.
